We all know that women have bad hair days but did you know that men have rough days too?

What is it with hot men and dodgy facial hair?! Channeling a sleazy Greek waiter á la Shirley Valentine (suddenly the name 'Orlando' becomes befitting...)







Sharp threads, check. Chiselled jaw, check. Quick-to-strip? CHECK! A dapper David Beckham ticks all the right boxes.

But BEARDED? Grizzly facial hair and a chiseled jaw do not match make. Becks, shave it off – pronto!

Leighton Meester: My Fave Gossip Girl Fashionista

Here are the reasons why I love Leighton Meester:

 
She makes prim  and proper look cool

Twin sets, Mary Janes and the whole matchy-matchy thing started as a Blair Waldorf specialty – but who could have predicted we’d all be rushing out to stock up on patterned tights and pussy-bows?

 
Her awesome figure, of course

I'm a teensy bit jealous of Leighton's perfectly formed body – with flawless curves and legs that seem to go on for miles, can you blame me?

I heart her off-duty style

In micro shorts, a black hoody and buckle-covered wedges by Chloe Sevigny , Leighton looks every bit the off-duty downtown hipster.

 
She does red carpet glamour like a pro

She might have only been in the paparazzi’s eye for a few years, but Leighton’s already mastered the art of Hollywood glamour. She donned this to-die-for Bottega Veneta gown to last year's Emmy awards with tousled hair and a strong red lip.

 
Headbands, headbands, headbands!

Blair Waldorf single-handedly reignited my love of that 80s treasure - the headband - in all its forms. Blair’s are mostly by Jennifer Behr.

 
The fashion world has fallen in love with her, too

Her New York City girl-about-town status (and über-cool personal style) has won her friends in all the right places, including designers Proenza Schouler who decked her out in this cute outfit when she sat front row at their show during New York Fashion Week. 



She makes catwalk looks all her own...

...with unexpected details and quirky touches. She added socks and sandals to this Louis Vuitton dress and waistcoat for a little bit of eccentric cool.

 
She’s just as good at dressing down as dressing up

Without the wisdom of a stylist, some actress’ looks go haywire when they’re on their own. Not Leighton, who matches cute shorts and sheer jersey layers with It-satchels (Nina Ricci and Mulberry are her favourites) and has me lusting over her wardrobe every time. 



She’s not afraid of edgy fashion choices

Check out this sci-fi print Christian Cota dress and cut-out Guiseppe Zanotti boots Miss Meester chose for an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards – it’s not your average starlet’s glittery cocktail dress, but I like it!

  
She pulls off sweet and innocent with a sexy edge

...Which is no mean feat, if you were wondering. Case in point, this combination of a girly floral Prabal Gurung dress and velvet corsage Roger Vivier sandals are made complete with a come-and-get-me smile and smoky eye make-up.

Just like Rachel Bilson, Leighton doesn’t just stick to the big labels – she picks up pieces from lesser known and emerging designers too, like this cut-out detail dress by London-based Emilio de la Morena. The result? A style that’s all her own.
